Who I am

and what I do

Silke Blum lives and works in Hamburg and Provence. Her paintings are influenced by the colors and shapes of her favorite places in nature.

Her pictures often feature warm, light earth tones that reflect the dryness, light and heat of the south. This contrasts with a completely opposite scenario in the north, fog, rain, an often cloudy sky, days gray in gray.

She tries to capture the essence of her surroundings and bring it to the canvas in an abstract style.

Originally coming from the field of manual therapy, she is an autodidact in the art world. Painting, engaging with art, culture and working with different materials has always been her inner balance.

Silke Blum arbeitet und wohnt in Hamburg und der Provence. Ihre Bilder sind geprägt von den Farben und Formen ihrer Lieblingsorte in der Natur.

In ihren Bilder finden sich häufig warme helle Erdtöne, welche die Trockenheit, das Licht und die Hitze des Südens reflektieren. Dazu im Kontrast ein völlig gegensätzliches Szenario im Norden, Nebel, Regen, ein oft trüber Himmel, Tage grau in grau.

Sie versucht das Wesenhafte ihrer Umgebung aufzunehmen und in abstraktem Stil auf die Leinwand zu bringen.

Ursprünglich aus dem Bereich der Manuellen Therapie kommend, ist sie ein Autodidakt in der Kunstwelt. Die Malerei, die Auseinandersetzung mit Kunst, Kultur und das Arbeiten mit verschiedenen Materialien, war für sie schon immer ihr innerer Ausgleich.
